Biography

NYC-based Dora Novak grew up in Des Moines, Iowa. Here she started her love for dance with Iowa Dance Theater.

Dora attended SUNY Purchase Dance Conservatory, where she expanded her knowledge and practice through their Composition Concentration program.

In NYC Dora’s own company, ‘The Novomisle Project’, has performed at many venues and festivals. She has had the pleasure of returning to Des Moines to choreograph for IDTs spring concerts 2017-2020. She has also performed with contemporary and ballet concert dance companies in NYC and LA.

Dora has continued her work as an artist by costuming dance, film and TV, joining the union in 2016. Most notably working at The Metropolitan Opera, Lar Lubovitch Dance, and movies The Irishman, West Side Story and The Greatest Showman. Dora has held numerous workshops and intensives concentrating on modern, improvisation, composition, and partnering.

With a strong education in classical forms of ballet, she has found the fundamentals of modern with the exploration of creativity in the studio has expanded her ballet technique and artistic ability. A crucial fundamental for a performer is finding their voice, which we hope to accomplish this summer.
