Concert Information
Dates To Remember
April 22nd or April 24th, 2024: Costume Handout at the Valley West Iowa Ballet Academy Location
May 5th, 2024 – 2:25-2:35 pm: Photo Day at the Valley West Iowa Ballet Academy Location (Please arrive early to make sure you don’t miss your timeslot)
May 18th, 2024 3:45-4:45pm: Combined Kindercombo dress rehearsal at the Urbandale Iowa Ballet Academy Location. This is a dress rehearsal, so bring your dancer in costume!
May 20th or May 22nd, 2024: Last class of the season!
May 29th, 2024: Last day to order flowers from our recital flower partner, Recital Blooms.
May 30th, 2024: Tech rehearsal in costume at the Urbandale Performing Arts Center. Please arrive 15-20 minutes early. Since Kindercombo has 2 dances they have two rehearsal times: 4:15pm – Ballet, 5:35 – Tap. Please arrive with your student in their ballet costume, and place their tap shoes and tap costume in their recital bag.
June 1st, 2024 – 5:30 pm: Iowa Ballet Academy Concert Performance Urbandale Performing Arts Center. Kindercombo is in Act 1. Check in for the show is at 5:30pm, with a 6:30pm showtime
Costume Handout
The costume handout takes place at the same time as your regular class. For this class it’s just the parents who attend. We will hand out the costumes and go through all of the concert information. This is a very important meeting and gives you a chance to absorb all of the information, so please plan to attend Monday, April 22nd from 4:00-5:00pm or Wednesday, April 24th from 6:15-7:15pm depending one which night your student normally attends.
Photo Day
Join us for Photo Day at Iowa Ballet Academy! We will capture the joy and beauty of your little dancer as they strike a pose in their costumes. Don’t miss this special opportunity to have lasting memories of your dancer! Mark your calendars for May 5th, 2024 at 2:25pm. We can’t wait to see you there!
Combined Kindercombo Dress Rehearsal – Iowa Ballet Academy – Urbandale Location
This rehearsal will give us a chance to put both of our Kindercombo classes together so they have a chance to dance together before the theatre rehearsals. This will take place the Urbandale Location on May 18th from 3:45-4:45pm.
Tech Rehearsals
Tech Rehearsals are used to get everything ready for the big performance. It’s an important time for our dancers to practice in their costumes and ensure that every detail is perfect. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early for your student’s Tech Rehearsal (which is Thursday May 30th at 4:15pm, so arrive by 4:00pm). This is the only time they will be able to rehearse on the big stage, so please don’t miss your assigned time!
When you arrive at the theater, which is part of the Urbandale High School, please enter at the door marked “Performing Arts Center”. Once inside you will turn left and proceed past the doors to the theater and the bathrooms until you get to a long hallway to your right. The check in desk will be in this hallway. Please check your student in between 3:50 and 4:00pm.
Once your child is checked in please proceed to the auditorium so you can watch your student perform! Please feel free to take as many pictures and videos as you would like at this time. You will not be allowed to take photos or videos during the actual performance.
After your student performs please pick them up at the check in desk
Flower Orders
This year we are partnering with a local company, Recital Blooms to make it simple for you to have flowers to give to your little dancer after they have performed for you.
Performance Day
This is the big day! The Tech Rehearsal should hopefully make this a pretty easy day! You will follow the same process, dropping your student off by 5:30, then join the line to wait for the “house” to open at 6:00pm. Please note that this line can be quite long, so get there early!
Your student will be performing in the first Act of the show. After the first act has been completed and we begin the 15 minute intermission you can pick up your student. Please do not try to pick them up before the intermission, as we are very busy backstage and will not be able to bring individual students out. After you pick your student up you are welcome to watch the second act!
Theater Etiquette & Rules – These are for both the safety of your student and the enjoyment of the other people in the auditorium
- Photos or videos are not allowed during the performance. Every student who is enrolled in the concert will get either a Blu-Ray or DVD of their performance as part of their concert registration fee. You can also take photos and videos during your Tech Rehearsal.
- Please stay seated for the entire act, unless there is an emergency.
- Applause is encouraged!
